    Hello,
I have been googeling a bit about overclocking but can´t seem to find that much good information. I kind of know the basic prinicipels of OC´ing but i dont know how much i should change things. I kinda wanna know what the max is for in i5 3210m without using external cooling or frying it. It has only has to complete a 1 minute benchmark without the risk of frying it :p Could it get to i7 3520m levels for instance? I wouldnt have a clue how much i should change the voltage of my processor or how much i should raise the Core or Bus speed i might fry my CPU raising it.. After benchmarking it i´ll just get it back to normal settings.
Im now using PassMark benchmark for my benchmarking. My i5 scores well above the average for the i5 3210 which is 3879, i just got a max of 4144. But i´ve seen more strange results there the category average of the i5 3320m is lower than the i5 3210m  What is the reason for that, other people not having good cooling so the i5 won´t reach its max frequency? Or has it something to with my MSI Turbo Drive Engine (i tought that was only for GPU my turbo buttons wasnt on when i did my bevnhmarks)? Or might this have anything to do with people not taking theire time for theire benchmark with 2 internet tabs open my score went down to 3750-ish

Would you advise me not to use the BIOS or to use some other programs? Some people say that is easyer.
    thanks in advance!
    Daniel

I didn't think you could OC any mobile i5? They all are on mobos that are locked right?

Actually overclocking the processor is something that is an option to a select few. Even the 3610QM in my sig cannot be OC'ed. I think you can OC the 3720QM up on the M17xR4 mobos. The thing isn't that you cannot overclock. Overclocking is simple. It is that many ICs actually work just fine with a pretty decent overclock, as such pushing them into the performance region of a processor that costs more. That reduces sales of the manufacturers. Then you have heating issues come into play after a certain limit and then stability.

yeah i know that i7 3520 is just basicly an overclocked i5 isnt it it only cost a few 100$ more.

I´d just say if people want to overclock just let them fry theire CPU´s they will learn not to then :p

A very select few. The only people who will be able to get a significant overclock out of their systems are those who own a 920XM/940XM/2920XM/2960XM/3920XM.

Not sure if it's available on your BIOS but you could raise the BLCK for a 5-8% OC. But IMO, not worth it considering the stress you're putting on the whole system.
