    Hi there,

I'm helping a friend with the smashed screen on his Toshiba Satellite M70-340. The original screen is a glossy screen with the following reference: NTL154X3.

I got him a matte working screen with the following reference: PL154W01. When I replaced his screen with the new one, the light on the new one is a bit dim.
When I change the brithness setting I notice a change on the brithness of the new screen but is still about half what it should be (it is as bright as when the computer is running on the battery).

Is the problem comming from the original inverter not providing enough power?

Please help me to figure out the problem.
I'm connected to skype at the moment under the name 'cat_mine'. please get in touch if you have any idea on how to sort this problem

    thanks

N.B. With the new screen in the keys that adjust the brightness work in revers order; the one suppose to increase the brightness decreases it, and the one suppose to decrese the brightness increases it.

    Hi

Just a quick update. With the original screen the fn+F6 decreases the brihtness, and the fn+F7 increases it.

With the replacement screen fn+F6 increases the brightness and fn+F7 decreases it, plus when with the original smashed screen pushing the fn+F6 or F7 once changes the brightness, with the new screen I have to push the buttons twice to get the same result. This why I think that the screen is working with only half its original brighness. Besides I tested the screen (new) with another laptop and it was as twice as brigther.

I think I need a more powerful inverter (one for matte screens).
    Any idea (reference and else...)?

    thanks

wonder if the wires are reversed? i mean the ribon cable i has or does it use actual wires on that one? if its in he ribbon not much you can do. not sure but this is one thing that comes to mind..also could be that the new screen has different voltage/consumption ratings than the old one which could also be possible.

    Hi zFactor
    1/
In case the voltage is not the same, would changing the inverter be a fix?
How can i go around to find the reference for the new inverter?

2/ surfing the net I found that the glossy screen in this laptop can be used with the toshiba satellite M30 M35 M40 M75 A100 and A105. I also found that some of those laptops also use a matt screens.
Does any one know if the inverter is different when those laptops have a matt and a glossy screen?

    Thanks

this is all hard to say based on not being able to see the machine. but did you say you re-used the invertor from the last screen? if this is the case it may e that the inverter is not appropriate for that screen. not all 14 or 15 " systems use the same inverter. there are varied differences in inverter models. to me it sounds more like i said either something is hooked up wrong, or the inverter (i.e. voltage) is not appropriate for that screen.

can you give me more specific info on the screens? models and or part #s ill see what i can find out about them.

The replacement screen is from a Dell inspiron 1300. It came with its own inverter. unfortunately the sockets on the dell screen inverter do not fit on the Toshiba laptop.

So I have both inverters; the Toshiba and the Dell.
How can I know which Toshiba inverter to buy to get the Dell screen to work properly?

    N.B.
The Toshiba screen is made by Samsung and the Dell screen in mad by Philips-LG

    Thanks for your help

Would a toshiba M30, M35 inverter (ref: K000019440) be right for the LP154W01 screen?

    Thanks
