    Hello All,

Lurker on the forum, first time poster so hello.

    My question is this,

I currently Have a Asus BBl5 laptop with an intel i3-350m Processor. The laptop runs good but we always enjoy a little more speed dont we?

Anyway, I have an acer laptop with a bad harddrive and no ram in it. Kind of a parts laptop now. It is a Aspire 5740-6378..This laptop has an I5 processor in it.

My questions is, is it possible to swap the processors and put the I5 chip into my asus computer? If so any advice of a walkthrough would be wonderful if anyone has a link floating around.

I have experience changing out and building my own desktop computers but my knowledge on laptops is extremely limited. Thanks for your help in advance!

    -Dan

Yeah it's possible since they use the same sockets.
    I'll see if there's a guide around.

As long as you flash the BIOS with the latest version you should be fine.

If you've worked on desktops it shouldn't be much trouble for you.
People always say to apply some new thermal paste.
Hopefully your model provides easy access to the cpu.

OK, first off thanks for everybodys responses!

Now the real question, since it appears there is a lot of work associated with changing these out, is it really worth it? What would I be gaining ? Thanks again

    Err

Is the i5 a 430? if so, your 350 is probably better

This is why I love my y560, the CPU/GPU/heatsink assembly has a removable cover over it and is accessible just like the HDD and RAM.
