I have just purchased a new M550 SSD and I wanted to use it to replace my HDD on my notebook. I installed the SSD and boot up my notebook and I could not see the SSD in my BIOS. I then turned it on again to start the recovery process but I received "Instruction at referenced memory could not be read" error message.

I have put the SSD into an external enclosure and connect to my other computer but it could not be detected as well.

Could you guys please give some advise on it?

    Thanks.

Did you ever get it working or recognized? It should be detected, but kind of odd how it wouldn't show up in BIOS.

If you haven't had it detected ever, then hook it up to a SATA slot in a desktop, boot up, go into Disk Management, and see if you can see it there. It may need to be initialized, if it does when you go into Device Manager, it will ask you and will do it automatically if you select "OK". Then try to put it in your laptop.
