Ok so my laptop is out of warranty so i want to upgrade the cpu to something like the T7500/T7700 from the T2500. The only query i have is that the T2500 requires 31w and the T7500 requires 35w. Now will my Asus w2j be able to cope with this and be able to handle the extra heat that comes off it? Would be a shame if it doesnt! Want to upgrade to Vista 64bit as well you see and the old T2500 doesn't support it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The T7500/T7700 and any Santa Rosa compatible(Socket P) Core 2 Duo's wont work with your system. You are limited to the napa compatible(Socket M) Core 2 Duo's like the T7200/T7400/T5500 etc.

Dont worry about the small increase in TDP's the cooling system should still be able to handle it.

The T7500/7700 etc are not compatable with your motherboard in the laptop. The new Santa Rosa CPUs use a different pin layout than the old(er) Yonah Core Duo.
Off the top of my head the T7200/7400 might be pin compatable, but someone else would need to confirm this.

Edit: Miner beat me to it!

ah right, i thought because they were the same socket that it would fit ok, the T7400 doesnt look bad at all and works out cheaper!

Also if you purchased the notebook long before the Core 2 series were released it might need an update to recognise the new cpu. Otherwise there shouldnt be any issues with upgrading from a CD to a C2D.
