When selling a used laptop, do people usually leave their software (like MS Word, Photoshop) intact? I'm going to re-format my hard drive before putting it up for sale but I'm not sure if I should re-install my software or not. Should I re-install them or just sell it without it?
Also, is any other good tip on selling a used laptop?
I've never sold used PC before so kind of lost here lol.

You should reformat the laptop before you sell it. That way the OS has no problems and you aren't leaving any personal information behind. Use the restore discs that came with it.

Well you can advertise the software as a feature, if you own the software yourself because some people do not want to pay $150 more of MS Office, and it could be a nice bonus. But before you ship it, re-install the OS and then install the MS Office.

Since I just sold a laptop, maybe I can help.
First off, pictures! Make lots of pictures, from every angle. Screen off/on, keyboard, sides, underneath.
Second, I'd advertise all features of the laptop. How many USB ports does it have? VGA/DVI output? Firewire? Then specs, processor, RAM, video card, OS and included software, etc.
Third, if there are any defects, even a slight scratch, I'd recommend mentioning that up front. It protects you as a seller, and if the buyer decides to try and back out after he's recieved the item, it gives you some leeway.
And last, I'd suggest, just be as honest, and as thorough as possible. Research on the net, especially ebay, on the typical price a similiar system is going for.
You don't need to make it all flashy or anything, although many prefer flashy pics/graphics. (speaking from an ebay standpoint).
That's all I can suggest. :) Good luck!

EDIT: I would definitely reformat. If you want to install the OS for the buyer, that's up to you. :)

Yeah it is best to reformat your laptop before selling otherwise you risk leaving personal information on your laptop. Also any software that you sell with your laptop must be legitimate and can not be pirated. I would actually recommend getting a new hard drive and replacing your old one if you have ever kept any sensitive data on your laptop. Then you won't have any worries about someone getting your personal information.

I'd second Tim's note about software. In general, you're much safer restoring the laptop to the original factory conditions (OS + bundled software). If you are going to include MS Office or other applications, be sure that you have the original installation media and product keys or serial numbers.
