Well Sorry for the capitals but I need a quick response.

I own a Dell Vostro 1500 with a 8600m GT screen resolution (native) at 1440 by 900. With VGA output.

I was planning on buying a external monitor, 22' 1680 by 1080 but then I was told by two employees at two stores that the image will be blurry since my graphics card will only output vga the same as the native resolution.

I believe they are just being idiots that dont know a thing but.

I plan on either running extended desktop or both monitor and notebook with same playback.

I believe I am right that both employees are wrong but would like to confirm before I go there and flame them.

    Cheers

They're being idiots, but do make sure the monitor supports VGA input at its native resolution before buying it. I've output from VGA at 1920x1080 and 1400x1050 from my 1280x800 Inspiron 1520 8600M GT (de facto the same laptop), while also running a display on the laptop's own screen at 1280x800. But some TV's and monitors limit high-def input to HDMI only - an annoying limitation I ran into . So make sure the one you buy does support VGA input at 1680x1080 or whatever its native resolution is.

They are incorrect and misguided. But give them a little credit for not just trying to sell you something they thought would not work. Seems like they might care just are misinformed.

X2P, what external screens are you looking at?

I just ordered a Samsung 22" last night (on special) and checked it out on a store today, looks like im in for a treat. After researching the past few days, Samsungs seem to be a great choice. Im tempted to cancel it and go for a 24" :D

I currently have a Samsung 32" HDTV, its a great screen but its too big to fit in my desk and its blinding me

Im looking at a Mitsubishi WIDE RDT222WM-S(BK). I opted for 22' after noticing that 24' just doesnt have the sharpness and colour prefection as a 22inch unless you decide to spend far far more. I opted out of samsung since they are a bit over priced in japan and the models available here are the worst screen I had ever seen. Every where else in the world they have great screens >.< kinda weird japan gets their junk but usually great products from em.

Just check what the native res is, its usually 1680x1050 for 22"

Samsungs must be expensive there because its from Korea haha. Both countrys havent had a good history ;)

Mitsubishis would be cheap sincer its Japanese.

Ya native res is that Im calling mistubishi up in a min :p

I think its just the taxs japanese have. The import tax is nuts its around 30-50% so prices jump unless its a Japanese brand.

History aint good but now its just governments and old people who hate each other XD
