    Hi,

I just bought 4 GB (2 X 2GB) PQI Power memory DDR2 PC5300 DUAL SO-DIMM. After Installing into my laptop it showing only 3574 MB only.

Now I have Dell XPS M1300, Windows Vista Home premium. -32 Bit. How can I increase my total memory to 4 GB? Where is the problem?

friends share some thoughts on this.

    That is interesting.

I would do either 1 of 2 things.
    A) Use the search function of this forum OR
    B) First thing tomorrow morning march into the merchant's store who sold you 3572MB of memory instead of the 4GB you thought you were getting! This is an outrage!

windows will only recognize 3.5gb as it uses the other 500mb for adressing or something, not sure if it applies to turbocache or integrated graphcis memory

I believe the graphis card memory is also dedcted from the 4GB

You would need Vista x64 to use your 4GB

32bit OSes do no recognize 4gb of ram. They only go up to like 3.5ish gb, so that's why. You want all 4gb, get Vista or XP 64bit. That's your only option. There are no secret ways to make 32bit OSes all of a sudden see all 4gbs.
