Anyone hear anything good about these SSD's?
    Read 285Mb/s, Write, 275MB/s

I just want to know how they compare to the OCZ Vertex 2?

    OCZ Vertex 2 100GB- $389.00
    Mushkin Callisto 120GB-$389.00

So I can basically get 20 extra GB for the same price.

Its the exact same drive. The only difference is the vertex only lists it as a 100GB to give more space to the disc for "clean up" work.

I like the name Calisto better than vertex, but other than that you are buying the same SSD ;)

Assuming he magically has a SATA3 connector that is true, but as its more than likely not the case... the C200 would be the choice there, and its actually slower than the Vertex 2/Calisto

The C300 also works on SATA II systems, just at SATA II speeds. So it'd still be a good performer, and he'd be able to take advantage of any SATA III system that he may get in the future.

Yeah i just saw that as well and thought it was odd to be backwards compatible (though i might have missed that in SATA 3 specs)

The biggest issue is that the newest SSD's (calisto and vertex 2, etc) saturate the SATA 2 connection (considering overhead) i think we've offically reached the end of life for SATA 2 to be useful to us. Unfortunatly its going to take a decent while for SATA 3 to be universal enough to worry about it, and by that time investing in the C300 will seem like a bad idea because the "normal" SATA 3 drives will be so far above it.

Plus the biggest hinderance to SATA 3 is spinners... they arent even close to SATA 2 speeds yet, but until they start making drives for SATA 3 i think we're going to have to wait longer than we ought to :(

But hey if its the same price it might be a good deal, Assuming knocking it back to SATA 2 speeds doesnt screw with its speeds like Intel was suffering for a whle when put on SATA1 bandwidth

The C300 started with drives bricking and continues to issue firmware updates in hopes of getting it perfect...check out the latest from Anand. I wouldnt touch a C330 just yet.
