    in a Thinkpad T43, if i tried 3gb of ram, how would that go since its max is 2.
    I ask 3 b/c its processor isnt 64bit.

    Probably wouldn't even boot up if max is 2GB. Sorry. :(

    The T43's chipset can only address 2GB of RAM, although it will boot with more than that (and even Windows will tell you that you have 3GB of RAM, but only 2GB will be used).
