    I'm going to buy a LG IPS235P-BN monitor. It features audio output jack, standard 3.5mm one, and an HDMI input. I'd like to use HDMI connection and the output jack connected to my 2.1 speakers set. This because notebook audio board suffers from a quite loud noise due to a poor shield, i suppose.

    Code:
    PC --- HDMI with audio ---> Monitor --- 3.5mm audio jack ---> 2.1 Speakers
    Anyway the question is fairly simple: can i listen to music even when the monitor is turned off or it's in stand-by?

    Thanks as always. And sorry for my not so elegant English :)

    Probably not, at least not with any of my monitors.
