You never really asked what could be done. I did look into it and I see that you can upgrade the CPU to any Intel Socket P CPU with a FSB of 800MHz or lower (1066MHz is likely unsupported) and has a power rating of 35W, as long as you upgrade your BIOS beforehand and assuming the BIOS supports the new CPU. You can also upgrade the RAM and HDD, just check what you have and go from there.

Upgrade the RAM to 3-4gb then upgrade the CPU to a T8300. This will sure speed things up.

    Well?
What do you want to do?

Larger HDD maybe? Get a 500GB.
More DDR2 RAM? Get 4GB if it supports it?
Want faster CPU? Upgrade to the fastest possible supported by the chipset.

Wanna paint it pink with black dots? Get som grit, pink and black paint and some patience and do some nice work.
Wanna get better cooling for it? Get some fans and mod it on to cool it down.
Wanna tear the notebook aparat to use the parts for anything special?

As said, what do you wanna do exactly? We wouldn't possibly know really! I don't think we have any mindreaders on this forum! :)

thank you have all been helpful. I just wanted to know the possibilities of optimizing my system.

My main uses is for the following

    run vista
    run xp sp3
run linux, ubuntu and back track 3 and others
test software (purchased or self developed)

    run at three main settings
1 full gaming (for maximum performance)
2 full mobility (for max battery life 2-3 hours)
3 test mode (change with the need of the product being tested)

    Also:
i wanna customize the appearance to something scratch resistant-ish
reduce the weight when traveling to university
i wanna extend my wifi capabilities
