Is it possible to install a 800mhz ddr2 ram on a laptop which supports 533 mhz ddr2 ram? If so, can the ram be mixed up with another 533Mhz ram?

    The specs of the ram:
    256M x 64-bit 2GB (2048MB) DDR2-800 CL5 SDRAM

    The specs of the laptop:
Supports up to 4096-MB maximum (2048-MB 667-MHz SODIMM in slots 1 and 2), the 677Mhz RAM is supported at 533Mhz.

    thanks!

Have you used the search function? There are so many guides.

I'll answer your question tho make sure you get proper RAMS for laptop....

    1. Yes, it will downlock due to the chipset.
    2. Yes, you can mix them up because they will work at the same frequency.

"SDRAM" is desktop RAM, mate... won't fit in laptop.

at any rate, yes you can mix RAM speeds, the faster stick will just downclock to the speed of the slower one.

Just make sure that your 800mhz stick supports 533 speeds. You might be better off by getting a 667 stick because it will for sure run at 533 speeds.

Get a SO-DIMM stick, so you won't get yourself a desktop ram-stick that won't fit.
