    subbed! :D

im hoping that Micron will have a more client-oriented approach in designing XPoint drives as opposed to Intel. With them, it was like: WHY? every time they released a new XPoint product....

WHY only 22110 drives with 4 lanes?
WHY only 2280 drives with 2 lanes??
WHY 2280 drives with 4 lanes but low capacity and crappy controller???

get your crap together intel! Micron is gonna kick your butt in the XPoint arena!

Now I'm actually happy the two broke up their partnership hehe :p competition!

yea man this will be a step forward. intel is so caught up by AMD protecting their server/mobile market they didnt do much on optane, even cancelled their 815p line up which was suppose to bring some decent improvement over 800p (which was junk).

next yr is probably where optane is at, new gen of xpoint memory, higher capacity of optane dimm and hopefully much better and more efficient controller and firmware. optane is so fast that controller will run too hot if not done properly.

w/e is replacing that 815p better be worth it. a full fledged pcie 3.0 x4 SSD with at least 2500-3000MB/s sequential read/write on QD1.

or go for pcie 4.0 already. but likely intel wont do that, since they would be indirectly supportung amd platforms haha

i donno the current controller prob not able to keep up that pcie 4 bandwidth. even if it comes with it, it'll overheat and throttle hard. they need that 10nm out fast
