    What the heck is going on with memory prices?! Does anyone know when they might start going back down? $100 for 4 gig!?

    The DDR2 price started growing some days ago, while the DDR3 price drops.

    this is a quote from a previous post a simple search brought:

    Memory manufacturers are also switching from making DDR2 to making DDR3. You may see some fluctuation in DDR2 prices as the economy starts getting a bit better, but in the longer run, the price of DDR2 is only going to go up as newer memory formats take over (kind of in the way that any respectable capacity of SDRAM costs a fortune).

    $100 for 4gig stick? It is already being coming down then! They will come down more when more notebooks allowing support of 6gig and above.

    Also picked up a new retail box Q9400S for $175-
