ok.. so I asked for a gaming mouse for x mas... and I got the Mx Revolution.. is not marketed as a gaming mouse.. it brags about "7 buttons" but, I have no idea if those can even be changed...

Did my mom just get me a 150$ mouse for lazy executives rather then a gaming mouse?.... I feel kinda bad now.. the guy at the store said "its a gaming mouse" yet, its not sold as one.. its not marked as one.. they don't brag about it being one in any way...although it does have a good bit of similar features to a gaming mouse itself...

I mean it is just what i needed ..a usb mouse for a laptop... but it doesn't really seem to be a gaming mouse..

Although many mice aren't marked as "gaming mice", they will do just fine with any gaming you can throw at them. That is one of the nicest mice on the market, and has many uses outside of the gaming world. The most important thing is if the mouse is comfortable to you. You can have the "best" gaming mouse in the world, but if you don't like how it fits your hand then it won't produce anything for you. Most people get overkill on how much dpi they need in the first place. So my advice is to try it out on a few of your favorite games and see how it goes.

Try using your brain for once please. What do you think is the definition of a Gaming Mouse? It's not like a mouse with the lable Gaming Mouse means it has some random advanced technology that no other mouse has.
The MX Revolution is a high sensitivity precise ergonomic 7 button mouse with some of the most advanced mouse features to date. Can it be used for gaming? Yes, and it will perform extremely well. The Gaming Mouse lables are only lables, nothing more.

use my brain? I did. Me and my brother have been researching this mouse before we even open them. (he got one as well) its my understanding that its max dpi is 800, it has a button or two that will cause games to exit out if pressed.. among other things. I was aiming this question at people who might actually OWN one or have used one during gaming. You know.. since stores are a little more reluctant to take back products that have already been opened.. Especially since I haven't asked my mom where she got them from.

gaming mouse is just a label to get you to pay more money. albeit the gaming mice usually have higher dpi, have efficient response and are usually more comfortable, i am very sure you have exceeded those prerequisites with one of the nicest and expensive mice on the market.

you can change the functions of the buttons that quit your game through setpoint

also, having ridiculously high dpi is totally useless

i have never seen anyone use 1600 dpi setting to play any game

you move like 1 mm and your character turns a 1080 (exaggerated but it is much too sensitive at 1600dpi)

most gaming mouse gives you an option to turn down the sensitivity

a very good gaming mouse is the razor copperhead or diamondhead

any normal mouse can be used as a gaming mouse. how well you do in a game depends just as much on skill (if not more) then on the equipment you have.

oh, imo, gaming mouse are lighter so you can move them faster in twitch fest games and an normal mouse (like the mx1000) are a bit heavier and more smooth to use

Gaming mouse is not the one with many buttons...though for games like Warcraft it is certainly a plus to have more...

Gamin mouse can smoothly and more accuratly track ur hand motion. It was important 10 years ago, when some mouses couldn't keep up with gamers hand, becacues of low dpi or lower Megapixels camera or w/e but now a days practically any mouse can do just fine, so it is just a matter of how comfortable it is...

I use MX510 and tried a lot of laser mouses..MX510 is the best ...Logitech also has a cordless one, but it is a lot heavier because of the batteries so it's not for me)

That's a contradictory statement - "gaming mice is just a label", then you go on and say "they usually have higher dpi, have efficient response and are usually more comfortable" - so, it's not just a label. ;)

Gaming mice, in addition to what was mentioned, usually have more durable cords and designs too. I don't see why you cannot use the MX revolution for gaming.

But in the case of the MX Revolution, is actually a notch better than most Gaming Mice despite not having a Gaming Mice lable stuck to it.

I highly doubt that one would be dissatisfied with such an expensive high end mouse. Mice works just like most other things in life, the more you pay, the better you get.

Every mouse Logitech makes is a gaming mouse... It's just that the ones labelled as "Gamers" have ridiculously high dpi instead of merely astoundingly high. On the other hand, I think the Revolution ones have more buttons (which is handy, gaming or no), and that's pretty much it

As long as it's Logitech, you can't really go wrong. :)
    They don't do "non-gaming" mice. ;)
