    Hi,

I have a MSI GT70 2OD-829XNL laptop. I would like to expand the memory and I have bought one 8 gb module to expand the memory with. There is already 8 gb built int (2 x 4 gb). However should I have bought another 2 x 4 gb, or can I just put this one into a memory bank? And which one should I put it in? There are two available banks, on on the bottom and one on top.

I have also bought an SSD, but I can't find a manual on how to install it anywhere. I know how to open the back (I've just renewed the cooling paste on cpu and gpu and it runs much cooler now), but I've never installed a ssd. Is it just a click in or do you need to do more?

    Thanks!

Technically adding another 2x 4GB modules would have been better due to dual channel but it really doesn't matter all that much. You wont see any real world difference in performance by buying the 8GB module like you have. You can install the RAM in either module, but go for the bottom one just for ease of access to the top one in future.

Regarding the SSD... When you purchased the system you should have received a few extras, including a bracket which is used to secure HDD's in that system.

I've just put in the ssd and extra memory. However there is no extra bracket to install the ssd. In the other hard drive there is a small rubber plug holding the hard disk, but I do not have one extra. Is there some place you can buy them to secure the ssd?

Ebay or MSI service centre in your country.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/MS-16FK-GEN...823489?hash=item3f34dcc601:g:REEAAOxyuR5TXtos
This is the bracket that would have been included with your system. Though on this listing I do not see that the screws are included too, so don't get 'screwed'. ;)\
I suggest looking through the items you got with your system (Should be with user manual/warranty information leaflet etc) as that is where the bracket would be.

Your best bet would be contacting a MSI service center in your country if you fail to find your included bracket.

Thanks, yes that looks like it should fit. I'll see if I can order one, MSI was not helpful at all on the phone.
I put in the ssd and memory, put an image on the ssd and it seemed to work. However I now keep getting BSOD, at random times, but most often when I watch a movie. I get Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I updated all of my drivers and it does not seem to solve it.
The code is 0x0000000D1 (0x000000000000000000000000, 0x000000000000002, 0x000000000000000000000008, 0x00000000000000) (sorry did not count the zeroes), any ideas?

i had the gt 70, theres one of two "types" of sad's that you can install in it. you can either buy a standard SATAIII SSD and replace your mechanical drive, or you could get an mSATA ssd and run your mechanical drive as a storage device. may i ask what kind of SSD you purchased?
