I'm currently running my computer off a 120GB OCZ Agility 3 and I'm currently planning an upgrade. I'm mainly looking to upgrade to something faster with more capacity. I've heard good things about Corsair Force GT, Corsair Performance Pro, Patriot Pyro, and Patirot Wildfire. I was also looking at the OCZ Octane but write speeds seem to be slower. With all the SSD's on the market now I'm a little lost.

    Thanks in advance! :)

    Alright here's the low down:

If you look at any SandForce drive, avoid ones with 25nm NAND and only go for the 34nm Toshiba ones ie:
OCZ Max IOPs, Patriot Wildfire and the Mushkin Chronos Deluxe. All the rest have 25nm NAND which has conflicts with the SandForce controllers causing crashes, BSODs and all other kinds of horror. I'm not saying that it is definitely what happens, only that it happened to some users with those particular kids of drives.

If you are after something that isn't SandForce, you are looking at two options (not two drives lol) so either the Marvel controlled drives, or a Samsung SSD.

The Samsung 830 SSD is a very good drive. OEM's favourite. Everything inside is made by Samsung themselves and reliability is top notch. It is a bit faster than the next drive I'm going to go on to -

The M4. The forum users favourite. Very quick drive especially with newer firmware. Good reliability and beats the SandForce drives in incompressible write speeds and random tests (what matters in real life). Marvel + 25nm.

And last but not least: the widezu69 approved drive. The Corsair Performance Pro. Read/Write @515/440mb/s close to the SandForce competition. However this drive maintains speeds close to those handling both incompressible and compressible data where as SandForce falls flat on its face with incompressible. Marvel + 34nm + Corsair magic = basically an M4 on steroids. This drive is soo good. Read the reviews. Gold awards here and there with Editor's Choice stamps as well.

The OCZ Octane was a bit disappointing I thought though. I don't know much about the Intel drives but they are well know for their reliability. They are slower than the M4's but more reliable according to some users.

Thanks for breaking it down. I was leaning towards the Performance Pro and with your recommendation, I may well end up getting it.
    +rep!

Do you know if the 520 is Sandforce driven?
