So stock battery has barley any life (about 1 hr) and I'm looking to get a better battery that will last me about 3-4 hours while using wifi and internet browsing.

I never bought a bettery before so I have no idea what to look for let alone making sure the battery will be compatible for my notebook.
If it matters my laptop is an acer aspire 3050.

Do all batteries fit all laptops?
where is a good place to get long lasting battery?
and what should I be looking for in a battery?

    Thanks

No you will have to buy one SPECIFIC to your notebook.

where is a good place to get long lasting battery?

Only buy batteries that are OFFICIAL batteries for your notebook, not made by third party makers

and what should I be looking for in a battery?

Probably as many Cells as you can get

You will likely not find a battery that will last the amount of time you would like it as computers undervolted and gpu downclocked have enough trouble reaching 3 hours with a 9 Cell battery.

You can only buy a acer battery which will work with your laptop. If you have say a 6 cell battery and a 9 or 12 cell battery was an option at purchase than you can upgrade to a larger battery. Can you take your battery out and tell us the model number. That way we can figure out how many cells it has and what you can upgrade to.

You should also check out undervolting. Flipfire made a guide and it can help increase your battery life by about 20 minutes or more.

both of the previous posts are correct...

ONLY BUY A BATTERY FROM ACER,, it may cost $20 to $60 more,, but it will work and if it doesn't they will replace it QUICKLY.... that is one thing ACER is good about (replacing defective parts)

i'm betting your battery is a 6 cell as most ACER batterys are... but you are in luck... there is a 9cell battery which has 7200 mAH verses the 4000 mAH of power available in the 6 cell..

the ACER PART# you need is BT.00903.004
that is the ONLY 9 cell battery listed in the service guide... but ACER may have other 9 cell batterys that are interchangeable.... but leave that to ACER
do not trust any after-market seller to get you the correct battery that actually works..

if you read enough about batterys here @ NBR,, you will see the senior members almost always saying to buy batterys from your notebook manufacturer... there are reasons for this.... first and foremost we want to see you get a WORKING BATTERY... and secondly we want you to get a battery that your manufacturer certified for use in your laptop....

it's not worth saving $40 for a poorly made after-market battery that will likely die within a few months..

i have attached PICs from the aspire 3050 service guide showing battery info
put the info we have provided to good use... i'd hate to think that i typed all of this in vain!
