    Hello!
I am looking for new LCD to my Lenovo Y580. I have now market 1366x768 panel and I need new with the same resolution. What I want is better quality panel - colours, angels, contrast. Is any model, that will be good for me?

There might exist two different screen types for the WXGA Y580, though it's most likely the 40-pin WLED. Just to be sure, you will need to find the part nr. of your current screen first; look under "Monitor" with HWiNFO:

And don't expect too much, there's only so much a WXGA resolution can accomplish. Also, do you want glossy or matte/antiglare?

I googled and it seems thats LTN156AT24L01.

Matte will be better, but if exist glossy model with much better colours I can consider it.

I thinked about 1366 resolution becouse I am using native resolution in games. I can say, that most time i didnt spend playing and current LCD seems bad, even in the text compared to my old, cheap laptop - Toshiba C660-12x. I tried setting the HD Graphics, but still the image is faded, black is greyvy (Is this word even exist?).

EDIT: Seems thats too late today for me, i didnt recived LTN156AT24L01 before in test result : )

All other things being equal, the same screen in glossy will have a larger colour gamut and deeper blacks. Unfortunate; you already have a glossy screen. Look for the lowest "black value" on NotebookCheck reviews to compare the black=grey issue. Couldn't agree more on this and was an important factor in choosing the W230SS; same screen as in the Aspire S7-392 Ultrabook (black = 0.19 cd/m²).

Here's a list of 44 (mostly) compatible screens. Mostly; you need to verify they list "LVDS (1 ch, 6-bit)" under "Signal Interface Class" and "40 pins" under "Signal Interface Pins", do this using "add to compare" (15 max.). Also, Panelook does not consistently list the connector's location (bottom-left or bottom-right) and you need a bottom left, so check this when ordering.

Possible NBC reviews of all 44 panels:

Report back when you've found a panel you'd consider. Again; not too much expectations. Good thing is that these are all very cheap panels, should set you back no more than $60, anything over that is overcharge.

    Hey,
Thanks for list. I found N156BGE-L11

    Google Search - NotebookCheck.net

Why, depends form tested notebook model black is diffrent?

    Acer Aspire E15

    Lenovo ThinkPad L520

In description I see the same screen - N156BGE-L11.

Aslo I talked with guy, who changed LCD to AUO B156xtn02.1 in Y580. He said, that he can change brightness in only 3 levels. From what it depends?

I checked your screens, but I didnt found anytkink better than N156BGE-L11. Do you think, thats good idea to change LTN156AT24L01 for it?

Yes, you're sharp :) . Sad thing is, different NBC reviews (translated) use different calibration/measuring devices; usually either X-Rite i1Pro 2 or Gossen Mavo-Monitor. These cannot be used interchangeably, it's like apples and oranges. So you're left comparing X-Rite vs. X-Rite and Gossen vs. Gossen.

Not sure, but it's likely the lcd controller board. Panelook does not list this information free-of-charge, only on the datasheets.

Well, it's not a great screen, but it is certainly an improvement and one of the best from that lot. However, it is also an antiglare/matte and the glossy version (L21) is better (but I prefer glossy, so there's some bias here ... :p ):

When it comes to colours, angles and contrast; both the L11 and the L21 are superior to what you have now. Best of the two in colours is the L11, for blacks and contrast it's the L21.

So ... yes, I'd think it's worth the effort. Provided you can find them cheap enough. One issue when ordering is that a new panel will be sold as "compatible", even when the listing says it's 'brand/model abc' or 'xyz'. The only way to be certain you'll receive what you ordered is to buy a used screen. Fortunately, these so-so screens are also the most common types being sold, so there's lots available, keeping the resell value down. The L11 goes for $60 and the L21 for $53, both inc. shipping.

What you first want to do is get the Service Manual or ask the Lenovo support what upgrade panel they have for it and use it parts number to see if you can find a compatible model to fit it. Don't just go swapping panels unless you can match parts numbers to the right laptop.
