I purchased a T-61 with 1gig and would like to upgrade. I think I can easily follow the instructions to get the case open to make the change.

Are there two memory slots or only one? I have not yet placed the order for the memory and need to know what to order.

    thank you,
    G

    4GB (2x2) PC2-5300 200-pin DDR2-SODIMM (Max atm)

Two DDR2 Connectors/Slots. Get the cheapest memory, available with a Lifetime Warranty.

With a 32-bit OS, you'll get 2.5-3.75GB available. With a 64-bit OS, the full 4GB will be available.

It might support upto 8GB, depending upon BIOS support.

    The T61 only supports 4gb.
If you have a 32 bit operating system, and the Quadro NVS 140, your system will support exactly 3072mb of memory. I have a T61 with 4gb installed, and it only recognizes 3gb on the 32 bit operating system.
It is very easy to upgrade the memory.
    Turn the system off,
    flip it over,
look at the small diagrams, on the laptop, (look for the keyboard labeled ones)

Their are four screws which remove the front plamrest.
Once unscrewed the palmrest comes up and you can access the memory cards
Their are two slots one on top of the other.

    I have 2 x 2Gb of OCZ PC5400 memory installed
