Hello,
Prices for memory have really skyrocketed over the last six months. Six monthes ago I could have gotten A 4GB kit of PC2-5300 Kingston HyperX memory for $66 Canadian and now they start at around $100.
The best deal I could find was to buy two 2GB sticks of Lenovo memory ($38.50 each), but I don't have a Lenovo laptop, will they still be compatible or is their memory system specific? It would be great if they were because I would make the assumption Lenovo memory would be of a decent quality.
This is the stick and deal I am looking at: http://www.bestdirect.ca/products/215898/40Y7735/Lenovo/
I'm going to buy two of them. My system is the Compal IFL-90 with the PM965 Chipset. (Replacing the memory already in the system because compatibility with the current RAM is a concern, current memory is a single 2GB Transcend PC2-5300 stick)

check out PC2-6400 ram.
Because 800mhz ram will work with your chipset, although it will downclock to 667mhz.
800mhz ram is cheaper than 667mhz stuff.
EDIT: I don't see any reason for the Lenovo memory to not work. It's got the same number of pins, non ECC. -
Won't PC2-6400 have a inferior CAS Latency?

Oh found a good deal for 5-5-5-15 OCZ Memory, thanks.

I use PC2-6400 ram in my notebook (same chipset as yours).
It's rated 6-6-6-18 800mhz, but in my notebook it works at 5-5-5-15 667mhz.
PC2-6400 will work exactly like your PC2-5300. Maybe even better because you can lower the timmings more since it's rated for 800mhz and you're running at 667mhz.
If you're lucky you can flash it to 4-4-4-12. -
