    Laptop won't turn off. Extremely weird H/W bug (most likely)

    Greetings.

    Notebook Dell Vostro V131 from 2012. When send shut down command (via Start button or hardware button), the screen goes blank, the hard disk stops, but the power indicator on the panel of the laptop is still light on and after a while, the fan starts again and laptop stuck in such condition forever. Only hard-shutdown can turn it off.

    At first, I thought that the OS was crippled. I've reinstalled it but he picture was exactly the same. Tried to install Linux and it had the same issue Can not turn off. Reboot passes without problems, but shut down won't work.

    To be honest, I can not imagine how this can be. The only thing that did not try: to reinstall BIOS or change the HDD. Nothing special was done to the laptop before this...

    @vorob try resetting BIOS settings to defaults.
