Since it looks like APUs have gotten good enough to run modern games decently without a dedicated GPU ( example), are there any notebooks that just have a high-end APU without a GPU? I just don't want to spend the extra money for a GPU if I don't really need it, also using less power is always nice.

All the laptops I've seen either come with both a high-end APUs and GPU, or just low-power APUs (usually the models ending with 'U'), which don't have very good graphics performance. Thanks.

The U thing is usually for lower end systems at least for Intel. It's usually and either/or situation. APU I'm assuming you're looking at AMD? Sometimes it's used to mitigate costs on higher end devices knowing you'll be looking for higher graphics HP for that spec of machine.

Yeah, both AMD and Intel use the 'U' ending for low power versions of their chips.

Yes, AMD is the only one that makes APUs, so I'm looking for AMD.

    https://www.windowscentral.com/best-amd-ryzen-laptops -- lists 2 APU options

    https://www.bestreviews.guide/apu-laptop?loc_redirect=UK -- has 1 listed

In this market it's hard to find something w/o a discrete GPU attached of some sort. Everyone seems to be on the bandwagon for paying up for better dgpu's instead of settling for one w/o.

I would say it's probably easier to pick the processor you want from https://www.amd.com/en/products/ryzen-processors-laptop and then google it for laptop options. If the same runs true with Intel @ AMD though the higher the core count the better the experience will be.

For instance the 5800U has 8 cores and APU lists the same.

Each CPU when hitting Learn More will display Laptop models using that particular CPU at the top as seen above and then compare those models to what you're looking for. I don't think anyone has really compiled a list of APU only laptops for performance. There might be a benchmarking site though with drop downs or comparisons. The reviews though should be telling of the performance of these laptops from real users.
