For the last few weeks my laptop has been making a loud beeping noise everytime i go on battery. Then when i plug in my cord again the sound is gone. Is this normal or has my battery became loose in some way. I have already attempted to take the battery out and put it back in by the way. My laptop is a hp dv2500 series and any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How old is your notebook? I am only going toward a battery issue.

I am not thinking your battery connection as if it was not good would think no power? I am completely guessing but until someone else chimes in, well here it is. Is it a battery alarm? I had a DeLL thats battery fried it would say charged 100%, That was correct it held no charge so 100% is zero. Only considering what is your charge level and how much charge do you really have? I don't really think I am correct but rule it out so we can move on.

It sounds like the BIOS is detecting some kind of error, possibly with the battery. Can you enter the BIOS and search for a system diagnostic (not all laptops have them)? Check your BIOS settings and advanced Vista power settings to make sure that it isn't set to beep when the battery hits a certain level of charge.

Beeping is not normal. How long can you run on batt? Anyway let someone else comment I do not have an obvious answer. If one comes I will certainly post.

Be careful you guys and your BIOS updates scare me. You are aware a bad flash is fatal? And for all intensive purposes your notebook is fried. Dead no more.

Don't worry i checked and it was completely compatible, my bios updated and now the sound is not noticible unless i put my ear up to the laptop. When i unplug the cord it makes a sound like its drawing power from the battery and i think its normal. besides now it isnt load at all. but if it comes back i knwo its a problem.
