I'm at my parents place and find that they've bought a 32" LCD TV for the guest room. I drooled for a bit, then got a VGA cable to hook up my laptop to the LCD TV, set the source to VGA, extended my desktop to this second monitor, and wallah: sweetness.

BUT the problem is, I can't get games or non-windowed apps to play in the 32" TV. Man this is like having a cake and not being able to eat it. Help guys, any ideas?

check your settings. sounds like the tv is set to be the second monitor, like in a dual monitor setup.

You need to set the TV as the primary display, not cloned or expanded. Most of the time cloned will only work for non 3d rendered stuff like games for example.

Don't let games run in full-screen mode, drag the windowed version of the game to the TV and then exit and re-launch in full-screen mode. Usually adding the command -window=1 will put it in windowed mode

I hooked up my dell to a 37" HDTV through DVI-HDMI and it gave me more options, like it supported more resolutions than when I hooked it up through VGA-VGA for some reason. Set the TV as primary screen, but you'll notice the supported resolutions in game will be limited than when using DVI-HDMI at least in my case.

What, no comments? Awwww...maybe the thread doesn't update if I only edit the post instead of making a new post.
