    So, I got a fairly new laptop - a month old. Asus ROG G771JM, 4710HQ, 860m.
Starting a couple of days ago, the CPU fan *seems* slighty louder. Nothing extraordinary, but noticeable. HWMonitor says the fans never go below 1900 RPM even when idle. Temps are fine.

Is 1900 RPM a normal speed for idle?

Idle fan for my GT70 is 1900RPM; though it's almost silent at that speed.

I assume all manufacturers would have around the same RPM at idle.

My M17x R4's fan idle at various speeds.. sometimes if temps are too low (like below 50C for CPU, they literally are at 500 rpm and completely silent... It depends on how the manufacturer has designed the fan control with regards to the rpm..

Did you contact Asus support and ask them? That would also be a good place to ask first...as they are the system manufacture of the laptop.
