    Laptop 4th gen cpu compatibility problem

    Hello, I have a laptop with a w54_w550su2 motherboard and I want to upgrade the cpu but I can not find any info abou the socket of this motherboard and the compatibility list of cpu’s. The laptop have an i3 4005u cpu

    This is not surprising, according to ark.intel.com, the socket is FCBGA1168 which means that your CPU is soldered to the motherboard. You can't upgrade.

    It is difficult to solder a cpu? I mean i have the equipment that is why i asking.

    Hot-air isn't equipment for that kind of work.
    My former company changes BGA CPUs with 5k$ BGA machine, but this needed "trial run", when always some of MBs gets damage, for estabilishing thermal curve and not giving 100% succesfully replacements.

    If you have to ask about the difficulty, odds are you don't have the equipment required to do this job. It's highly specialized, extremely expensive, and takes a great deal of skill to operate.

    @Panoszik you need not only the equipment, but also someone with experience & expertise - and time to mess with it. Also, 8th gen CPUs are rolling now, making it an utterly pointless, the machine in question not being timeless classic like x230 with other mods available to keep in line with modern offerings and all.
