    I quite disappointed, i just bought LG 500 notebook but had to change the Vista Software as my company is on XP, but now i feel the perfprmance has been tampered with, im not sure how, please help - does this type of note book come with a Hitachi hard drive disk?

    You can see what hard drive you have in the device manager or BIOS.

    I am not sure if it will help you though. If you want to check your hard drive performance run HD Tune (free) and post a screenshot here.

    How did you go about switching to XP?

    Did you format the harddrive and install XP, or did you make a partition and dual boot XP/Vista.

    Usually the performance will increase by going back to XP, because XP is more memory and cpu efficient.

    Did you install the appropriate drivers for your notebook for XP?

    Also to find the harddrive, you can go into the device manager and click properties on the disc tab.

    I have the same laptop: LG E500.
    My question is if I can upgrade il a little bit: more RAM an a video card?
    Now I have 2GB RAM and no video card.

    Maybe the XP install lacks proper drivers, and currently runs with default ones?

    I think the LG E500 uses Nvidia hardware, so heres a download link.

    I installed Windows 7 on my LG E500, and everything is fine. :)
