I just received a new laptop (Clevo P650SE w/ IPS Screen) through XoticPC but while running games where the screen faded to "black" , I noticed noticeable areas on the bezel leaking backlight. I know that having some degree of bleeding in an LCD screen is inevitable but at this level, is it worth asking for a replacement or would this even be considered eligible?

Here's a picture that I took in a very low light situation with the screen on max brightness on the Windows 10 desktop with a black wallpaper, desktop icons hidden, and the taskbar on auto hide .

Definetly ask for a replacement... This is totally unacceptable.. I hope my P771ZM with IPS screen isn't as bad as this...

Ok, so assuming I contact XoticPC, would I expect to mail it back to them and receive a new laptop or a repair on my current one assuming they notice no issues on-site. I personally would prefer the latter unless there is some other issue they notice on site. In person, I also noticed some kind of smudged glue or something (I think you can see it in the picture in the upper middle left of the screen, a sort of radial pattern), is that a result of the glue applied to the screens filter; can it be repaired?

Best ask XoticPC themselves about this.. I have no idea.. I would call them up once they open and speak to someone there... I hope its them sending you a new laptop and mailing this back... I don't know.. @Hutsady@XoticPC should be able to help you here a bit..

I do see the backlight bleed in your picture. As you mentioned backlight bleed is a normal part of IPS screens and is to be expected. But an excessive amount is not. Its hard to be able to say for sure in pictures though as most cameras will do an over exposure as its metering for the dark parts, especially when the majority of the picture is dark. It would have to be seen in person to see if its excessive. Unfortunately the only way to do that is to send it in. We would help you set up the RMA, but it would go to Sager as cover the warranty on that. We would handle everything for you though and you do not have to work directly with Sager. If they deem it excessive they would just replace the panel, not the whole computer. If the screen were replaced that would also get rid of the smudged glue. To get this started we'll want to open a service ticket. You can get on our site and click Contact on the top right and then the Request RMA link. Fill out the form and submit it and we'll get the ball rolling for you to get it sent in.
