With the new monitor I decided I need some real speakers. I went to Best Buy and looked at the Z623 and Klipsch 2.1 BT. For haha's I turned on the Insignia set, that lastd all of two seconds. The Z623 on the demo setup took two times the volume knob to achieve the same volume level of the Klipsch.

Another thing is the newer BT version seems to have different amps then the original. The newer ones are rates at 0.2% THD at 100 watts. the 5% THD kicks in above that at the 132 watt area. These ratings are way better than the original ones still available and you can definitely hear how clean the amps are.

So besides the cleanliness of the sound, louder volume, etc. the bass was no where near as muddied and felt like it were deeper. Overall setup in the room when I close my eyes it sounds more like a HiFi sound system with good 8 inch book shelf speakers.

I did not want to spend the extra, but am so glad I did. Now I can't wait for them to break in......

Most speakers I've used need ~150 to 250 hours of continuous playing to sound 'right'.

I just plug in an old iPhone and leave it play continuously for a week or two - at the farthest reaches of the house/office - at about 40% volume.

After that, I can still notice them breaking in with higher volume - but at least they don't sound like they're honking at me. ;)

If I did 40% for an hour, let alone a week, the kids would all kill me. So far I have been playing them at 15% for a few hours and can already notice the difference at that level. I am not a gamer so the primary reason is for music and do these ever rock.
