    Hi

I am wondering if adding a keyboard cover will make it feel like the keyboard of a laptop has more travel?

No, your keyboard will feel like it'll have the same travel with or without a cover. Also, it'll make the keyboard feel horrible to use.

The cover will add a millimeter or two of extra height to the key, but to have it have any meaningful impact on keyboard travel the materials used for the cover would have to compress non-trivially in order for your fingers to actually move a longer length when pressing on a key. The materials that covers are usually made from don't display this sort of property. You'd have to design a cover that is made from something like foam or the like and it'd have to be a few millimeters thick in order for it to have any meaningful increase in keyboard travel (though really, this would make a normal keyboard cover feel great to type on).

Keyboard covers will improve key grip and character visibility, but that's it.
