Hello guys for all of you here on nbr i wish you a happy holiday. Okay I'm looking for a couple of things to be bought on newegg. First I'm looking for ram. Iam going from 3 gb to 4gb. (1 2gb stick and 1 gb stick) *Note that i have a 64 bit os. Anyway is it worth it to upgrade my system from 3gb to 4gb. I mainly play games. Also i heard its will be alot faster because it will run 2gb to 2gb stick instead of 2gb and 1gb. (Sorry forgot what it was called). Heres a pic of the ram. http://i790.photobucket.com/albums/yy181/xxbadboys93/ram.png So basically will different brands of ram matter. Does it matter if i have ram with 6-6-6 clocks and 5-5-5. I would like just one 2gb stick of ram so i can have 4gb of ram.
Next i would like you guys to reccomand a good headset with mic for basically under 40 dollars. It has to be good around the ears.
P.S. I would like to purchase this stuff on newegg.

    Thanks guys

    Happy holiday to you too!

On the RAM questions, with a 64bit O/S going from 3 to 4 GB's will not be a huge difference, just as going from 4 to 8GB is not, unless you use the programs to really require the extra RAM.

As to the different clock speeds on RAM, we will not notice it at all except in benchmarking. But, keep in mind if you have two sticks that are identical, Dual Channel RAM mode, (if supported by your MB - most likely it does) will be running as fast and as effecient as possible - this could give you up to a 5% increase in RAM performance, not in overall performance though - keep that in mind. ;)

With RAM upgrades, I prefer to purchase two identical RAM modules and after making sure they are working correctly (testing them with MEMTEST overnight) I sell my old RAM. This ensures that their will be no weird interactions between the original and new modules (rare, but can happen) and also to ensure the fastest dual channel mode possible.

    Good luck.

4GB does help especially when u game and need more shared video RAM... or need more RAM for photoshop... also its allright to buy another 2Gb ram stick and use ur old one along with it.. little or no performance difference..

If you are ever going to OC your FSB, get another hyundai stick of ram.
because it has hynix chips, which overclock really well.

For a headset, if you can get $10 more and pull off $50, I highly recommend the Plantronics GameCom 377, which is currently offered with free shipping from Newegg:

If $40 is an absolute maximum, you might like its predecessor, the GameCom 367. The main difference here is that the 367 is closed-ear while the 377 is open-ear. In short, open-ear gives you a better soundstage, but closed-ear offers greater isolation.

If you want to go cheaper, there's the Plantronics .Audio 355. I've used its USB counterpart, the .Audio 510, and it was decent. Pretty comfy, but the sound was slightly more muddled than I like. Either way, it's $25 with free shipping.
