    I got this hdd off ebay.. it's a seagate 7200 160gb
I was gonna use this as an externie, but windows vista does not
recognize the hdd, but the weird thing is that hd tune does somehow
recognize. However, when I attempted to run some benches, there was
an error. But, I managed to do the error scan on hd tune, but it showed
that 100% of the blocks are damaged. Is this how new hdd are like or
    is this defective?

I think the problem is more related to how you are connecting the harddrive to the computer, than the actual harddrive itself.
I have never seen in my experience a hdtune scan which took 5 seconds on such a large disk.
I suggest trying to install an operating system on the drive. take the harddrive out of your current laptop and install the new seagate drive. Than install xp/vista. If the installation finishes, than you pretty much have a good drive. Than from their run a hdtune from within the operating system and see if there is any change.

I think you are getting bad clusters, cause the drive is not connected properly, or the adaptor used to connect the harddrive to your system is bad.

Try installing an operating system on the drive and let us know what happens.

If you cant get an operating system to install on the drive, go into the hdtune health tab, and take a screenshot. If the S.M.A.R.T. diagnostics show any yellow or red stripes, its time to callout the ebay seller and get him/her to refund you.

The general note in my book, is to never buy a used harddrive, cause you never know what is wrong with it.
