customize laptop on XoticPc, some of them offers Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound on both CPU and GPU for price of $45 total, separate $25 each. My question is, is it worth for $45? I know, it's only $45, but does it make any differences??

    "
    Performance:
3 to 12 degrees centigrade lower CPU full load core temperatures than standard thermal compounds or thermal pads when measured with a calibrated thermal diode imbedded in the CPU core.
    "

XoticPc's quote, but anyone test it yet? I mean is that really true? Temperature does matter to me, I want my laptop cool, make me and my laptop comfortable. Therefore, if this Arctic Silver does offer good cooling, to me, it's worth it.

By the way, New nVidia GT 220M, how come can't find a benchmark for this card?? Thinking about ASUS F50SF-A1, (not a highly gamer, this laptop fits me), but no idea about this GT 220M yet.

    Thanks for your help!!!!

AS5 is good and can drop temps if applied properly but $45??? I rather do it myself that pay the stupid sum of cash!

Instead of buying AS5, get one of the newer types, such as AC MX-2 or ICD7.

    Not for $45 they ain't.

Rozaback: don't get it from XoticPC; as ramgen points out, you should get a tube of it yourself (which will cover WAY more than just one CPU/GPU) for less than $10, and apply it yourself.

Will you be able to disassemble your laptop, apply the AS-5 properly and reassemble it, without damaging anything? If not, $45 sounds fine to me.

And it does make a different, esp for load temps.

that's the key!! I dont know how to reassemble it -_-

Glad to hear all the helps, it does cool, then it will be worth to add $45 to it. Too sad that i dont know how to reassemble it. Not a laptop expert, only knows how to play it :(

A small tube of AS-5 costs less than $10 and will 'do' 10 or more machines.

You can head over to a local radioshack and buy their "premium" thermal paste for $10 + tax, no waiting. If you look at the tube, you'll see it's actually AS-5 with a rebranded radioshack package.
