Been having some BSOD's lately then afterwards my laptop wouldn't be able to detect the SSD and it got to the point where it just wouldn't detect again even after several restarts.

I then opened my laptop and found that the SSD was slightly loose (only a mm or 2 out of the SATA port). I pushed it back in and haven't had a problem for a few days.

Is this just a coincidence or are the BSODs a sign of worse things to come?

I think having a loose connection to your main storage will likely cause you some issues ;-) If I were you maybe run some health checks such as prime software to load your CPU + memtest to check your memory but I think it not being connected will be your cause. I have the same SSD with no issues 2 years plus of reasonable usage. Also maybe run the intel toolbox and get it to check the drive out.

Use something for spacers with it if it isn't fitting well. I have a dual bay laptop but it only came with one bracket, so I used some velcro and rolled it a bit to fit between the non connected end and the end of the bay. It doesn't move and no issues. I believe it is caused by your ssd coming loose from the port, so this might help.
