    Hi all,
I have just recently bought a used Intel X-25M 80GB for my M15X for £125. I haven't had a chance to put it in yet but I have just seen the Crucial C300 64GB available for £118 brand new from crucial. Do you think it would be worth getting because I know the speeds are faster but I bought the X25 because of it's reputation. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks

From what I've heard, you're better off with the Intel

Yeh you think. And the random read an write speeds are better on the intel are they not.

Intel has a better price/performance ratio as well as a decnt amount of storage.

In that case, just stick with the intel. There is only a 7 pound difference between the two and the Intel has an extra 16GB of storage.

It would be more accurate to say price/capacity/performance, though I'm still not entirely sure that's true.
In this case, the C300 is cheaper than the Intel and performs better, so it's clearly better for price/performance, but price/capacity/performance is a different matter.

Read speeds are most important. I do a lot of 3D modelling and photoshop work as well as gaming so basically would the C300 be much quicker in that respect?

The 64GB Crucial costs me, in the Netherlands, 145 euros, the Intel G2 80GB costs me 200 euros.

Seems like Crucial is beating Intel in price/performance AND capacity per dollar. Although it remains to be seen how this drive performs in real life.
It is uncertain how quick the 64GB Crucial performs.

    The 256GB performs really well.

It's about time Intel makes a move. The G2 is overpriced now, at least here in the Netherlands.

It should be coming in Q2/Q4, supposedly. There are a few different rumors out there about when Intel will finally drop prices and move to newer technology for producing MLC.

Anandtech says Intel told him mid-year.

Either way, I think we are going to see price cuts for the G2 soonish.

Yeah, I read that too. I'm guessing that's the Q2 info that Fudzilla is referring to.
