Hi i installed ITM into my XPS M1330 notebook last November and at first i had no problems. I used the drivers that came with the ITM and then i later updated the drivers through the Intel website. I am using Vista 32 bit and the driver version for the ITM that i am using is 1.0.0.1082.

I later bought a 2GB Sandisk SD card and i started to use that as Ready Boost also. At one point in time i think that i also disabled the Ready Boost component of the ITM in the option panel. My HD was acting as a hybrid hard drive with 387MB of NV cache then but now it no longer does.

Somewhere along the line something can got corrupted with the ITM as it no longer works. I have removed the SD card but the Ready Boost and Ready Drive is showing as disabled in the ITM control panel and it will not allow me to enable it. I have checked in the bios and the ITM settings are enabled.
The error code i am getting in the device manager is error code 10.

I tried uninstalling the drivers and trying earlier and later ones and that created a BSOD on my computer twice. I had to reinstall once and then i had to go into Safe mode command prompt to fix the problem.

I am not sure if this is a hardware or software problem.
Does anybody have any idea about what maybe causing this problem?

I have removed the ITM and have made sure that it is seated correctly so that is not the issue.

Yes. First check if you have the AHCI SATA controller in Device Manager and then check that AHCI is enabled in the BIOS.

If you updated the BIOS then it probably disabled AHCI (since it would cause BSOD for anyone who did not have the right drivers loaded in Windows).

If AHCI is enabled and working then I would try updating / reinstalling the Intel Matrix Storage software.

Thank you both for your help.

I have checked the BIOS and AHCI is enabled and my computer enables it by default.

I have also checked in the Device Manager and my AHCI settings under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controller settings read like this-Standard AHC1.0 Serial ATA controller.

I reinstalled the software again but still the same problem persists i cannot enable RB or RD and a yellow icon appears in the Device Manager for the ITM.

My HD is showing up as this- Samsung HM250JI ATA Device.

I am thinking that it maybe more a hardware problem now than a software problem.

I recall having a problem on my initial TM setup because the version of the Turbo Memory driver from mid-2007 included an older version of the matrix storage driver.

My AHCI controller is described as Intel (R) 82801 HEM/HBM SATA AHCI Controller, so maybe you haven't got the right Intel driver. It's all part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Try reinstalling that, otherwise you could try to manually force the right driver onto the device.

If the latest matrix storage manager doesn't flush the bug, try uninstalling the Turbo Memory in Device Manager then redetect the hardware.

    Hope this helps,

    John

i agree.. the intel matrix storage driver package is a collection of drivers and not a a single driver. there are chances by which the wrong driver has been installed for you. so read ur notebook specifications correctly and understand which SATA controller u have got and that the driver is the same for it.

if nothing solves try a full reinstall of windows....... if this doesnt solve the problem..... well theres something messy with the hardware

Thanks for the help. I have now updated the Matrix driver.
I had another BSOD today with this thing. I am thinking that it really maybe hardware.
I tried allowing Windows to install the correct driver and it came up with the error (code 10) message. The drivers are not being loaded for some reason.

I also did a clean install a few days ago when i got my first BSOD.

The only thing i have not tried is to try and force the driver that John suggested i should do. How would i go about doing something like that?
If that fails then i know the problem is definetly hardware related.

To manually select the AHCI driver go into Device Manager, right click on the SATA AHCI Controller and select Update Driver Software. Then select Browse my computer for driver software. Then select Let me select from a list of device drivers on my computer.

This should bring up something like the attached list. Select the newest of the Intel drivers. You might need to reboot to complete the installation and then a few more time to get the Turbo Memory working.

Let's hope this clears the glitch.

    John

PS: Make sure you have the latest TM driver. Mine is 1.5.0.1013.

John thank you for your help. I have given up with this now and the ITM is going back to where i bought it from for a refund. I doubt that anything is wrong with ITM now but i just cannot resolve this issue.
I know with Macs that you can reset your computer but i am not to sure if the same thing is possible with Dell notebooks.

Dude, now I'm having the same problem, and my Vostro 1500 has all the requisites and settings for running and working with the Intel Turbo Memory.
    What is happening?
I saw that in the BIOS setup, in the Flash Cache Module, is set to {none}, but the Windows Vista can see that there is a Intel Turbo Memory.
