Sorry for the lame question but here goes:

Is the Intel T7100 1.8GHz Processor a MEROM or Santa Rosa. I thought is was was Santa Rosa i.e. 7100, 7300, 7500 and 7700 but on a website selling an MSI , It says "Intel Merom T7100 1.8GHz Processor"

    TIA.

Santa Rosa is a platform, Merom is a CPU series.

powerpack is right - the T7100 is a Merom CPU for the Santa Rosa platform.

    OK.
I'm admittedly unknowledgable in this area, and I apologize for asking for clarification.

I've been researching my notebook purchase and the smart guys on this board recommend Santa Rosa, so its one of my requirements.

When offering processor options for the dv6500t, the HP site doesn't specify if the processors are Santa Rosa.

Their 3 options are an Intel T5450, T7100 and T7300.
I'm thinking of taking the T7100.

    Are all 3 Santa Rosa?

Yes, all odd numbered 7x00 and the 5450 are in the Santa Rosa chipset.

The T7100 & T7300 in the dv6500t are Santa Rosa, They are branded w/Centrino which means w/800Mhz FSB Santa Rosa.

Yes but just because the computer has 1 of these chips does not mean it is Santa Rosa, look for the Centrino branding.

Quite. T7*00 is Core 2 Duo, not Santa Rosa. The T7200 T7400 and T7600 are not Santa Rosa.

    Lemme try that again.

They use socket P - built for the Santa Rosa chipset, and are incompatible with the older motherboards that use Socket M
