    Bluntly put - is the difference between a P8700 and a P9700 worth $165?

I'm putting together a Sager NP2098 on XoticPC...kind of looking for an all-arounder, as this seems to be right in my sweet spot when it comes to laptops - discrete middle/upper end GPU, not too big, solid battery life, and of course, it's cheap. It would be used for media, occasional gaming, light video editing (not something I'm real serious about or do very often), and possibly some coding/compiling. Will I notice the jump from P8 to P9? Would you pay $165 for that jump?

    Anybody?

    I don't want a T9XX, either, as I value battery life.

Personally, no. Unless you are doing a fair amount of vid editing and coding, then stick with P8700.

absolutely not, that's just silly to me, might as well burn it or flush it down the toilet (your money).
    enjoy it :)

No, it's not worth it for a marginal increase in clock speed and a boost in cache size. You made the right choice!

    All done.

I'm surprised the lower end Sagers aren't talked about much around here...this 2098 seems like a steal! HD4650 and 3-4 hours of battery for <$1000...on paper, I'm happy.

Yeah it is really nice, I recommends it normally for budget college gamers.
