    What are the differences between these two processors? Which one offers higher/better performance?

    the P8600 is faster, it has a faster FSB (1066Mhz VS 800Mhz)

    Those processors are on different platforms.
    The T8300 is a Santa Rosa processor (800MHz FSB),
    the P8600 is a Monteveina Processor (1066MHz FSB)

    The P8600 is faster, and more power efficient.
    However you cannot upgrade a T8300 to a P8600
