I know the PC processor is out later this month so when will core 2 duo laptops be out? I can't wait for it as hopefully it will increase battery life as that is very important for me.

there is not supposed to be an increase in battery life only performance. Many people said that it produced more heat and not much of a performance increase.

I doubt you will able to buy a Core 2 notebook when the processor is released. It seems as if it will be more of a 'paper launch' than anything. By the end of August/early September, there should be options for the Core 2.

This is going to be tight. I need a laptop before I go to uni in early september. I will try to resist my urge to buy and wait for core 2 laptops.

I agree with the advice above, and just get the best Core Duo laptop. Either way the Core 2 Duo refresh of the current Core Duo cpu won't be that much of an improvement. The true Core 2 Duos are going to be redesigned with new motherboards, from the news I've read. This August release date is a joke, just wait until the end of July when Intel is suppose to drop Core Duo prices again.
