Ok im looking to upgrade a laptop for a freind. When i run cpu-z it says under chipset i943/940glm. Which one do i have because according to wikipedia the 943 does core duos while the 940 does only single cores. Also can a 667mhz fsb chip run in the 943 then and downclock to 533mhz? The chip in question that would be going in would be a t2300.

    Two ways:
    • Try out Everest Pro (A certain version of it showed the exact chipset code)
    • Remove the heat-sink, and on the chipset die, check for the code if it includes 940 or 943.
And 667MHz FSB CPUs work fine, but the RAM runs only at 533MHz. So, the T2300 should work fine at its proper FSB of 667MHz.

If you want to purposely downclock the FSB, find an overclocking software that supports the MoBo's Clock Gen Chip (PLL) (i.e. SetFSB/CPUCool), and use it to reduce the FSB to 133MHz.
