I was just wondering how difficult is it to install rams for laptops?

I am by no means a novice with computers, especially laptops but I am thinking about installing some more rams for my new laptop so I was wondering is it simple as 1,2,3 like in desktop, except now I got to unscrew the bottom cover of the laptop?

Yep ugrading the Ram and Hdd in a laptop is pretty easy. Just remove the ram cover/door which should be under(bottom side up) your laptop and the rest is pretty straightforward. If it isnt there then its under your keyboard which would mean that you would have to remove the keyboard to access the ram(look in the owners/service manual for keyboard removal).

    What is your laptop model?

Keyboard is easy. Look for specific manufacturer instructions, but most time you take out two screws out of the bottom, then flick up 4 tabs at the top of your keyboard (mine are by 'esc', 'f4', f8', 'f12'), then slide the keyboard out. Gentle so you don't rip the cord connecting it to the motherboard :p (*cough, PSP *cough*

Just to quickly summarize, it is generally easy for most manufacturers that have the RAM located under a panel on the underside of the laptop. RAM only goes in one way, and to keep the form factor slim, RAM is inserted at an angle near parallel to the laptop. It is only more complicated for older laptops that have the RAM located on the upside of the laptop - requires removing parts of the front bezel (i.e., keyboard, touchpad, top panels, etc).

My laptop soon to be Dell's Vostro 1500. I was wondering if its better to get a 200Mhz upgrade or go for a 500MB ram upgrade. After going to neweggs, I found that a stick of 1GB ram is only 24$ while if I upgraded via dell it'll cost over 100. So I decided to go with the CPU upgrade from 1.6GHZ to 1.8GHZ. what do you guys think?

Get the CPU upgrade from dell and then do the ram yourself.

Depends how good you are with those things, sometimes even RAM can be tricky to install if u got big fingers :p
