Okay, I finally received my Western Digital 2.5" WD3200BJKT 320GB SATA 7200rpm 16mb hdd. I'm configuring my notebook for video editing and want to install CS4S. My OEM hdd also had 320 GB available space presently, but I want to get the most efficient setup I can get. And since I've been having trouble with Windows 7 since I install it, I'm figuring this might be a good time to just start over with a clean install? Any suggestions.

Also, since this is also my first upgrade is there anything I should watch out for when installing the HDD? I know the backlit keyboard gave me a world of trouble that nobody mentioned. Everyone that did it, said that it was sooo easy. It was not!

    Krane,

This is a good place to start:
    See:

Look for things like install order of drivers and make sure you download every driver available for the version of Windows you're going to clean install. Note too that just because Win 7 has 'default' drivers for some or all components for your notebook, I would still be inclined to install the manufacturer's recommended drivers.

Don't know if you've read this thread yet:

But it may give you clues as to how to partition it for continued efficiency and performance.

Something to watch out for is: make sure you are disconnected from the net! (To many viruses and other instability causing possibilities (like unwanted driver downloads from Windows Updates) to offset any benefits of not unplugging the internet, during the install and drivers setup phase).

Hope some of the above helps - I could give you more help with the partitioning if you would like - just ask in the thread.

Good luck and Happy New Year to you and yours! :)

Replacing hard drives is seriously easy.
Back in the 2000's you'd have to be more concerned about it :p

Back in 2000, I wanted to upgrade my (1998) notebook's 8GB HD. Physically easy. But IBM wanted $2G USD for the privilege. I chose to pass. ;)
