So I was messing around with laptop and I broke something off. The part was connected to the hdd and motherboard. It has 22 pins and I ripped it off. What is this called? I been searching for days now and I had no luck.

Thats the SATA connector I imagine, It will most likely have been damaged beyond repair. You will need to replace the motherboard if so.

Should be the SATA connector bridge. Laptop repair shops may fix it. Otherwise time for a new laptop.

If you decide it's not worth fixing, sell it on eBay. You could probably get $100-$125 for it.

It's not the size that counts. The piece you broke off can be fixed two ways:

    1. Try to have the local computer store solder the piece back on. This probably wouldn't cost more than $50.

    2. It isn't fixable and you have to buy another motherboard, which would cost around $170.

I would suggest taking a picture of what you broke off and where it came off from on the G6's motherboard, so we actually know exactly what you're referring to.
