    Welcome to notebook review,
Your T61 uses DDR2 Sodimm memory
You can install up to 4Gb PC6400 memory

To install the memory, follow these steps:
    1) turn your laptop off, and remove the battery
    2) Turn your laptop uspide down.
On the bottom, you will find that the front palmrest (the part with the touchpad) is able to be removed by four screws
    3) remove the four screws
    4) turn the laptop rightside up, and open the lid.
    5) The palmrest will be loose, so take it off
    6) In the center of the laptop, underneath the palmrest are two memory slots
    7) To remove the memory, push gently on the two small clips (one on each side of the memory card)
    8) the memory card will pop up at a 30 degree angle, when done correctly
    9) gently remove the memory
    10) Install the new memory
    11) Put the memory card in at a 30 degree angle - Make sure to line up the small indent in the bottom of the memory card. It is keyed, so it can only go in one way
    12) push the memory card down, and it will lock in place
    13) Put the palmrest back on, and screw it back together
    14) Put the battery in, and plug the power adaptor in.
    15) turn your laptop on and enjoy your new memory
    16) Please note, that when I upgraded the memory in my T61, it only recognized 3092mb (3Gb) of the 4096mb (4Gb) installed. I had a 32 bit operating system. If you have a 64 bit operating system, all 4GB will be recognized by the system

Here are some good memory choices:

    I hope this helped,
