I have a new gateway laptop. It has HDMI and vga but no S video. I was wondering if there was a way to add S video without spending the price of a new computer. Maybe a express card. I checked with gateway and vga does not support tv out. Thanks in advance. Phil

In addition to being obsolete. Rather than jerry-rigging your laptop downwards, think about upgrading your tv. Yes I know it still works, but like it or not, it's time for a new one.

it's not always about upgrading the tv etc. for example I use it a lot in many places, schools, companies etc and I need an S-video output. I'm not gonna upgrade those lol
Anyway I had the same problem. It really su*ks :( They could at least add one analog video output.... all digital screws everything...

Same problem, its frustrating that they dont include some kind of analog output. I have an hdtv, and the hdmi to hdmi works great. But when I go to friends houses or school and cant connect up without a bulky and pricey converter box...yeah. It makes you wonder if they are in cahoots with the tv makers to get people to upgrade to HD.
