How much would a good (preferrably quiet) 500gb HDD cost?

I have a noisy 7200rpm 250gb one right now, and i need more space. I am looking to get a better one.

The noise really doesnt bother me a lot, so anything quieter than this would be nice. I don't want to spend a ton.

    Thanks in advance!

About $100 seems typical for 5400 RPM models, if you use NewEgg. If I were you, I would avoid the Samsung SpinPoint models, as I have heard of a number of reliability issues with them, but the others should be fine. If you're looking for a 7200 RPM model, perhaps $150 -- see the same website.

Scorpio is slightly faster and uses a bit more power. Hitachi is probably the quietest one. It will be impossible to notice the speed differences without using a benchmark tool.
