Ok I have a machine from like 2003. It allows for 2 gigs of ram.

I know its this kinda ram

    Part #: CT492187 • DDR PC3200 • CL=3 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR400 • 2.6V • 128Meg x 64 • • more details

Is that DDR2 Ram or regular ram?

As far as I know ill be honest I have no idea what DDR means or What DDR2 is, As far as I know about DDR is the game Dance Dance Revolution...

    So yeah.

I need to know if that ram there will work with a Motherboard that supports DDR2 Ram from 2008

Basically can I put old regular ram in a new computer motherboard and will it work/ make my performance better?

"DDR" means "Double Data Rate", the suffix/number denotes the generation. i'm afraid DDR and DDR2 aren't compatible - DDR has 184 pins, DDR2 has 240 pins.

For desktops, anyway - notebook DDR2 RAM has 200 pins, and I'm not sure about notebook DDR.

But the moral of the story is, it's still incompatible.

Both ddr1 and ddr2 ram for laptops have 200 pins but the little knotch in the middle is moved over a tiny bit making them not fit.

It is sad to say indeed that if you want to use that extra RAM and it is a different DDR it won't work.. I had the same problem trying to salvage a component from a dying computer..
